Dacia Weist - Handwriting Analyst for Hire
Apparently I've always been intrigued with handwriting. I loved to "collect autographs" when I was little, whether you were famous or not, I wanted your signature. (I did indeed get a few "famous" folks too.)
The discovery of no Santa Claus came from me recognizing my mother's distinguished block printing. My mother has beautiful handwriting but resorted to deliberate, calculated, all caps printing when addressing a child or wanting to stay anonymous. It was just too easy to figure out that good ole Saint Nick just wouldn't write that way. (He didn't have the time!)
As I got older, I attended the school of hard knocks, took the road of most resistance and in general, did not make the wisest decisions as a young adult. Early in 1995, a relatively new employee at Southwest Airlines, I found myself pregnant and almost certainly becoming a single mom. Remembering the lessons that brought me to the most important crossroads of my life, I opted to become a little wiser. I started reading books on handwriting analysis, trying to figure out the people around me and protecting my daughter from jerks and perverts.
The guy I was dating at the time wanted to support me in this new found interest and offered me his journal to examine. Almost immediately I knew this guy was NOT for me! I discovered our relationship would never be more than the daunting task of getting a square peg to fit a round hole-sure it could work, but at the expense of the comfort of the peg (and the hole).
Back to being single, I got everybody's signature before agreeing to go out with them. Once, while on a business trip in Texas, I met a rather interesting guy. We went to dinner and clubbing, had a great time, but no "sparks" per say. The next day I happened to run into him at the Love Field Airport and began to think it may be fate bringing us together, so I asked him for his number on a BLANK, UNLINED piece of paper, (and "oh by the way, would you mind signing the bottom for me? Thanks.") Instantly I saw the traits in his handwriting of a "stalker", someone who is overly possessive and jealousy. I promptly went on my merry way, dumping the phone number in the first "O file" I came across that was out of his sight. Three weeks later, at work, I got "an emergency phone call" and when I answered, chills went down my spine, "Hey Dacia, its me, Dan from Dallas! Remember me?" He had found me with the little bit of information I had given him that weekend, my first name and who I worked for and the fact I was from Northern Utah. I lied and told him and told him I had gotten back together with my ex boyfriend (the square peg guy).
About that same time a good friend of mine wanted to line me up with a good friend of his. I agreed under the condition I could see his handwriting first. My friend told me he didn't think his friend would be accommodating, being scrutinized like that for a date and suggested I didn't mention to him why I wanted it. We made it a game, like a parlor trick, I did the bartenders writing, the waitresses, my friend lining us up, etc... I knew instantly that I wanted to date this guy! Intelligent, great sense of humor and a super sex drive!
I fell in love with him rather quickly. Shortly after we were married, my daughter became OUR daughter.
In 2003 we were fortunate enough to escape from the downtown Salt Lake City area and were transferred to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Literally we moved from "the hood" to "the hills" as we scored a three acre lot and house in the Sandia Mountains. Our property now is bigger than the city block we lived in Utah.
Four short years later, I met Karen Weinberg and became her apprentice, requesting to cut my hours back at Southwest to pursue handwriting analysis and document examination, something I'm so passionate about! About the same time, Southwest offered me an early retirement and things couldn't have laid into place any better! My husband and family has been so supportive and I am thrilled to be embarking on this new and wonderful career.
